Abuja Nigeria Hotels, how to find a good one.

1. Friendly staff

Honestly, I had to put this as number one above anything else because customer service in Nigeria is generally not yet understood.

You don’t want to walk into an establishment and at the reception you find the staff looking like they need a pick me up or even darn right rude or unhelpful.

So customer service or a friendly staff will be my number one consideration.

2.Budget

In Nigeria we love money. We will give you enjoyment and lots of it, but we seem to charge like wounded bulls for everything we consider classy or of western standards.

Abuja hotels can be very expensive with prices ranging from $150 - $500 for luxury suites a night at 5 star hotels. So be ready to spend money like you are in Tokyo or London. However, you should strive to get value for the money you spend.

3.Facilities and Food

Are you going on business or pleasure? Do you need a conference hall? My number 1 requirement is Internet access, then laundry, free newspapers and maybe a gym, tennis court or swimming pool. The food has to be fresh and served in my presence.

4.Cleanliness

I have heard people complain about hard mattresses or roaches found in hotel environments, not very nice. I say check what other people are saying about hotels in your destination.

5.Security

Most Abuja hotels have adequate security and the city in general is good. However, it can be very annoying when you get hassled by sex workers or miscreants when trying to have a quiet drink in a bar, so make sure you find out about security.

6.Location

The five main districts of Maitama, Wuse, Central Business District, Garki and Asokoro house the most popular hotels or guest houses and are currently the most developed part of Abuja. If you choose Hotels in these areas then you will be at the heart of the city, which is where you want to be as a tourist.
