Hello,
I was on a dating site called migente.com, and met men that said they were U.S.A. citizens. When they contacted me I soon found out that they were working in Nigeria in some kind of construction industry. One was supposedly building roads, another was building log homes in a tourist/hotel vacation location. These are just the two main ones that I dealt with.
The main inquiry was Tommy Jose and he didn't like being in Nigeria and needed money to obtain tickets home to Texas for his son and himself. He also was needing money for living expenses.
He over nighted a check for
$3000.00 to me to cash and send back through Western union. It was a fraudulent check. I confronted him about it and he said it was the company's fault and that he would sue them when he returned to Texas.
He wanted/begged for me to send him the money for the plane tickets and I told him he needed to send me a copy of his passport. He did after much argument but it too was a fake. At each step when I confronted him he denied being a scammer and was very offended.
I also received an email from a female that just stated that Tommy was a fake and to not give him any money. I requested how she got my information but she did not respond.
The man that was building the resort log homes needed money because he had been robbed and had $8000.00 stolen from him. He wanted me to get a loan and send him the money. I questioned him as to why he couldn't get the loan from his "company" or bank himself he stated that he didn't have a bank account in Nigeria. I found it quite humorous and kept asking questions about family here and so on.
When I finally said that I didn't have that kind of money nor credit he just stopped writing. Both men had talked to me quite extensively about a romantic relationship. Both were supposedly men of God and Tommy actually wanted me to go to my church and request funds from them! I said that they offered to send a food package and he said just send the money that we would spend on the postage! Unbelievable.
It makes me so angry that they take advantage of women that are just wanting to seek a loving relationship and help others and believe them. It got quite humorous, their stories and I must say I was entertained as were my office mates and friends.
I am working on an article to send to Oprah.
