Ikeja Lagos Nigeria is one of the most popular places within the State. Legend has it that, Ikeja was founded by an Awori (A Yoruba tribe in south west Nigeria) hunter with first name Akeja, after whom the area is named. To this day, many of Ikeja’s residents are of Awori descent. Social LifeIkeja Lagos Nigeria can hardly be described as sleepy because virtually every day of the week and late into the nights it is known for being ever busy. It has many fun spots and recreation centres such as nite clubs, restaurants and bars, hotels, eateries, Suya spots and eateries. Most of them can be found on Allen Avenue, Toyin Street, Opebi road, Awolowo way and adjoining streets. Most streets with the exception of those in less populated areas or residential areas are alive till late. Population Although population in Ikeja is hard to determine or estimate because of its dual economic state as a commercial town and residential town but Ikeja has between 2 million and 4 million residents making it the most populated Area of Lagos. ConclusionIkeja Lagos Nigeria has suffered from neglect, a lack of planning and over concentration of disorganized commercial activities which include street trading. However it is a very potent centre for economic activities with lots of opportunities for all.
