Real Estate in Nigeria....Ikoyi
People say Ikoyi is the most exclusive residential neighbourhood in Lagos, so I went to check it out. Unlike commercial Victoria Island or up and coming Lekki, Ikoyi is where new money meets old. Quite conservative with an established expatriate community, Ikoyi is home to Lagos State’s upper middle class and colonial properties still stand.

Driving down Bourdillion road, I saw more foreign nationals than locals and the properties are well hidden behind lushes of green palm trees or gardens. The main roads are in excellent condition and may have been recently refurbished.

Traffic is smooth but when it rains some smaller street roads can become the worst in Lagos, depending on the geography. The best schools for the kids, tennis courts, golf courses and country clubs should make this part of Lagos a desirable location for people with the budget and lifestyle.

Overall I think in a vibrant but amazingly chaotic place like Lagos, life in Ikoyi offers that serene country home feeling.
